Accessibility Statement

🎖️ Our Commitment to Inclusive Service

Tours‑UK Ltd is committed to providing an inclusive, dignified, and professional service to all our guests, including those with disabilities or mobility difficulties. We strive to comply fully with the Equality Act 2010, which requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage when accessing services. In practice, this means we will do everything we reasonably can to accommodate guests with mobility impairments and ensure they can enjoy our small group sightseeing tours.

All our tours operate using 16-seat minibuses. These vehicles are Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) of a size that is not legally required to have wheelchair accessibility features. Nonetheless, Tours‑UK is committed to going beyond the minimum legal requirements wherever possible. We continually review our policies in line with guidance from the UK transport and tourism industries to improve accessibility on our tours.

🚐 Physical Accessibility of Our Vehicles

Our tours are conducted in modern 16-seater minibuses.

Boarding and Exiting: Access is via a front passenger door with three built-in steps. Sturdy handrails are fitted on both sides of the doorway, and all steps have non-slip surfaces and high-visibility edges for safety.

Inside the vehicle, the floor is a single level (except a small step to the back row). All seats are coach-style with three-point seatbelts. Seat belt extenders are available on request. The minibuses are equipped with heating and air conditioning to maintain a comfortable environment.

Please note:

  • There is no wheelchair lift, ramp, or low-floor access
  • There is no onboard toilet (regular comfort breaks are built into each tour itinerary)
  • Passengers must travel in fixed seats and be able to board using the vehicle steps

🐕‍🦺 Assistance and Adjustments We Offer

We aim to provide reasonable assistance and adjustments, including:

  • Boarding Assistance: Driver-guides can assist with boarding and disembarking as far as is safely possible. While staff cannot lift passengers or heavy equipment, they can offer verbal support and safe boarding conditions.
  • Step Assistance: All minibuses are fitted with handrails and high-visibility step edges. A portable step may be available on request to reduce the first step height.
  • Seating Arrangements: We will gladly reserve a suitable seat near the front or by the aisle for passengers who request one in advance.
  • Foldable Wheelchairs & Mobility Aids: We can accommodate one lightweight, foldable manual wheelchair or small walking aid, subject to space availability. These must be stored safely in the luggage compartment and must not exceed practical weight or size limits. Please notify us in advance.
  • Travelling with a Companion or Carer: Passengers requiring essential support from a carer or assistant may bring one companion free of charge. We may ask for documentation to confirm carer status.
  • Driver Training: All driver-guides receive training on disability awareness and their responsibilities under UK accessibility laws.

🚫 Limitations: What We Cannot Provide

To ensure safety, transparency, and accurate expectations, we respectfully note the following limitations of our services and vehicles:

  • No Wheelchair Lift or Ramp: Our minibuses do not have built-in ramps, lifts, or low-floor access. Passengers must be able to ascend three steps using handrails and safely transfer into a standard coach seat. We regret that we cannot accommodate guests who must remain in their wheelchair throughout the journey.
  • No Onboard Wheelchair Seating: All passengers must travel in fixed coach seats. There are no designated spaces on board for wheelchairs to be secured, and passengers may not remain seated in mobility devices while the vehicle is moving.
  • Size and Weight Restrictions: Large, heavy, or powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters cannot be transported on our tours. We can only accept one lightweight, foldable manual wheelchair or small walking aid per tour, subject to space and safe handling limits. Items must be stored in the luggage compartment.
  • No Physical Carrying or Lifting: For safety reasons, our staff are not permitted to physically lift passengers or carry heavy mobility aids. Guests requiring assistance with transfers or mobility equipment must travel with a capable companion or carer.
  • Walking Demands: Tours may involve walking on uneven ground, navigating stairs at historic sites, and standing for short periods. Guests should be comfortable walking up to 1 mile with breaks. We do not provide push wheelchairs or attendants at stops.
  • No Onboard Toilets: Our minibuses do not have restroom facilities. Tours include regular rest stops, and additional comfort breaks can be arranged if requested in advance.
  • Service Animals: While we recognise the valuable role of service animals, due to the compact seating layout and absence of a dedicated space on our minibuses, we are not currently able to accommodate assistance dogs or other service animals on our group tours. This policy reflects both operational limitations and the importance of ensuring comfort and safety for all guests within a confined space. We sincerely apologise for this restriction and invite affected customers to contact us—where possible, we will explore tailored or partner-led alternatives.

🤟 Languages

Tours‑UK welcomes guests from around the world, and we are committed to making our content accessible across language barriers. While our website is currently published in English only, we will be introducing multi-language support in due course.

As we are still actively developing and refining our website content, we have chosen to implement translation functionality as one of the final stages in the development process. This ensures that when translation tools and third-party SEO services access our site, they will encounter complete, structured, and contextually accurate content, allowing for better quality and efficiency in translation.

Our aim is to support a range of major international languages commonly spoken by our guests and OTA users. We are also working to ensure that our translated content maintains the tone, clarity, and cultural nuance of the original English version—so all visitors, regardless of language, feel welcomed and well-informed.
