The Kelpies
Modern Scottish Icon, Myth & Engineering

Attraction OVERVIEW

The Kelpies Falkirk | Scotland’s Iconic Horse Sculptures:

The Kelpies are one of Scotland’s most striking modern landmarks, located in Falkirk at the heart of The Helix parkland. Standing 30 metres high, these monumental horse-head sculptures celebrate Scotland’s industrial heritage, working horses and folklore, drawing inspiration from the mythical kelpies of Scottish legend.

Positioned beside the Forth and Clyde Canal, the sculptures connect myth, history and contemporary design in a bold and instantly recognisable form.

A BRIEF HISTORY

The Kelpies were unveiled in 2013 as part of The Helix regeneration project. Designed by sculptor Andy Scott, the sculptures reflect the importance of heavy horses in Scotland’s industrial past, particularly in canals, farming and transport.
